Location: Mull of Galloway

Distance from Sands of Luce: 15 miles // 30 min drive

On the most southern point of Scotland lies the, still operational, Mull of Galloway Lighthouse which visitors can climb to experience stunning sea views. This makes for an excellent day out and a perfect photo opportunity!

 

Location: Dumfries

Distance from Sands of Luce: 70 miles // 1 hr 35 min drive

Known as the birthplace of Peter Pan, the recently restored House and Gardens will open to the public in June of this year. The enchanted venue will be holding a number of events and activities for families over the coming months so this is not to be missed this summer!

 

Location: Caerlaverock

Distance from Sands of Luce: 78 miles //1 hr 50 min drive

This fairytale location makes for a wonderful day out with the family. The triangular castle is unique in shape and is a popular filming location. In July, you can also experience a medieval jousting tournament, which is a great show as well as a way to get to experience some history.

On the most southern point of Scotland lies the, still operational, Mull of Galloway Lighthouse which visitors can climb to experience stunning sea views. This makes for an excellent day out and a perfect photo opportunity!

For those slightly more adventurous days, why not visit Laggan Outdoor? They have a huge range of activities available, such as zip lines, clay pigeon shooting, segway tours, archery and water balling – definitely something for everyone!

Distance from Sands of Luce: 101 miles // 2hr 20 min drive

Slightly further afield, this nature reserve is simply stunning and is well worth the trip. The Grey Mares Tail refers to the waterfall in the reserve which looks like the tail of a grey horse and is an excellent photo opportunity if you get the chance.

 

Location: Twynholm

Distance from Sands of Luce: 45 miles // 58 min drive

 

If you have a sweet tooth, why not head out to The Cocoa Bean Company in Twynholm. There are a number of interactive workshops for children (and adults!) to participate in, where they can mould and decorate chocolate to their heart’s content.
