5 Sunny Beachside Activities To Enjoy
It’s finally over. The long dark winter is behind us and at last it’s time to enjoy some sun! With so many visitors coming to enjoy the Luce Bay summer at our Galloway holiday park, whether it’s in one of our luxury holiday homes or to indulge in some beachside touring, we thought we’d prepare a selection of our favourite beach activities to help you make the most of this year’s sunny season.
There’s nothing better than waking up to a sunny morning and opening the curtain to gaze out at the golden sands below. At Sands Of Luce, that’s every morning for our guests. However, how many days can you spend stretched out sunning yourself on the sand as the ocean laps against your ankles? Some might say an endless amount, but for those who’re in need of more active ideas, particularly those with children, we’ve outlined our favourite activities below to help you get the most out of summer at our Galloway holiday park.
Number 1
Kite & Wind Surfing
What Luce Bay beach trip would be complete without a dip in the sea? There’s certainly something to be said for splashing about in the water, but for those wanting something a bit more adventurous wind or kite surfing is a great way to enjoy the Galloway sun!
With some great easterly winds to take advantage of and a nice, safe beach with few hazards, our Luce bay holiday park is the perfect place to engage in some water sports or even pick one up for the first time! Take A Yoga Mat For Some Early Morning Relaxation
This one is best for the early risers, though it could be just as relaxing if you stay behind on the beach for an extra half an hour at sunset while everyone else heads over to our lighthouse bar. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle and find a quiet spot for yourself. Feel the sun filtering down and stretch while you breathe in time with the lapping of the waves.
It can be tempting to think that making the most of a summer holiday means that you have to be constantly set to go go go, but an important part of holidaying is finding time to relax and unwind. That’s why we chose this as one of our favourites. Stretching out in the sunshine and being alone with your thoughts is the perfect way to set yourself up for a day of fun, or round one off before settling into a cozy evening.

Hunt For Hidden Shells In The Luce Bay Sand
For young children, yoga and water sports might not float their boat. Shell hunting however, is a fun way to spend your day in the Luce Bay sunshine no matter how old you are. Trailing up and down the gorgeous seven miles of golden sands is a wonderful experience just by itself, but having the added excitement of scouring the landscape for hidden treasures is a great way to keep the children entertained (and perhaps even yourself as well!).
While this activity is as easy and simple as walking along the beachfront and picking out anything interesting that you see, it can also be fun to turn it into a game. Beach Games
Beach games are a great way to spend the day, and a common sight at our Galloway holiday park. The great thing about this activity is that it requires as much or as little set up as you’re willing to bother with. From team sports to simple games to play with you and your children while your partner hits the waves, there’s always something fun to play at Luce bay.

Fishing Off The Bay
A great activity to get the whole family involved in. Fishing off the bay at our Luce bay holiday park is a truly unique experience, ideal for those looking for something a little more challenging. There are many places to charter boats in the local area with experienced fishermen to show you the ropes.
In the stunning seas off the Luce Bay coast, there is a diverse variety of sea life to hook and reel in. Skate, Pollock, and even Sharks! There’s a great many sea creatures hiding beneath the water waiting for a dedicated fisherman to land them. Make no mistake, this could be a challenging day out. However the satisfaction and excitement of all your family and friends working together in the boat to pull in the latest catch is not one to be missed out on. It’s for that unparalleled sense of comradery that fishing offers it’s become a favourite activity at our Galloway holiday park.
