Number One
Garden of Cosmic Speculation
Only open for an exclusive number of days each year, this stunning area of Scottish landscape features much more than meets the eye. The thirty-acres inspired by modern cosmology at the Garden of Cosmic Speculation by the landscape architect and theorist Charles Jencks at his home in Holywood, Dumfries.
What is so unusual about this landmark?
The psychedelic Garden of Cosmic Speculation is not any conventional garden, celebrating nature and combining the world of art, nature and science.
From the distorted buildings to bridges and impressive hillside contours, this garden will really open your eyes to the art displayed across the landscape. An impressive way to show you a glimpse into the hidden beauty that lies within Dumfries & Galloway.
Entry to the Garden of Cosmic Speculation
Entry is only valid on certain dates and times and strictly by booking only, so you’ll have to make sure you plan ahead to gain entrance into this exclusive park! Please make sure you check the Garden is open before visiting.
Admission is free for National Trust members, or £15 for an adult. All proceeds go to the charity Maggies, which provides free cancer support and information in centres across the UK and online.

Number Two
Dino Park
Situated in Hetland Garden Centre, the Dino Park & Soft Play Centre will provide an entertaining day out for all the family! From the Dino Den to the Tree House and Dino Shop, you can experience a roar-some day out altogether and create unforgettable memories.
What is so unique about Dino Park?
Take a trip underground and a leisurely stroll across the mine tracks, but watch out for dinosaurs lurking throughout the volcano! Who knows, you may encounter a triceratops, velociraptor or even brachiosaur! You can even have your picture taken with our friendly giant gorilla, situated right in between the Dino Den and the Dino Dig. Watch out for the komodo dragon though, who will be lurking just a short distance away.
Entry to the Dino Park
Open 7 days a week, 9am – 5pm, this adventure park is ready for you to visit, no matter whatever time or day you’re visiting us for your leisurely getaway. You can even experience the most roarsome day out
by purchasing a gift voucher for Dino Park and Soft Play as a family day pass, admitting two adults and two children to both of the areas for one day.
How far is this from Sands of Luce Holiday Park?
Situated about eighty miles from the holiday park, Dino Play is easily accessible via the A75 and is a memorable day out for everyone.
Number Three
Galloway Activity Centre

For keen swimmers, you can take part in the Loch Ken Wild Swim 20 which is now in its 11th year! For those wanting to take part in an activity on-land, why not try out night laser tag for that extra adrenaline rush? (You’ll love playing Zombie Killer).
You can even take up courses in training specific courses, such as a dingy or windsurf instructor where you will be provided with 5 days of hands-on training where you’ll be able to teach beginner courses and sessions afterwards.
After you’ve worked up an appetite in the activity centre, why not take a bite to eat in our Lighthouse Restaurant? From homemade stone baked pizzas to fresh fish, we have something for everyone to enjoy. (We even have vegan and vegetarian options).
Enjoy, all to live music.
